Database Developer

About you

Your queries are well written, clean and efficient. When hanging out in a restaurant or a pub you feel the urge to join at least two tables. You also understand the differences between INNER JOIN and CROSS JOIN and are able to identify and fix common misconfiguration issues, incorrect queries and inefficient stored procs. You like to go deeper and understand how everything works underneath and a morning coffee tastes better when you read execution plans. Above all else, you understand that there is no Ctrl + Z in database development and a forgotten WHERE may cause a lot of problems.

Your responsibilities

• Designing and implementing a database schema based on customer requirements.
• Optimizing database systems for performance and efficiency.
• Preparing design specifications and functional documentations for assigned database projects.
• Performing capacity planning for database systems.
• Ensuring data quality and integrity.
• Creating complex functions, scripts, stored procedures and triggers supporting application development.
• Troubleshooting and fixing database related issues.
• Evaluating existing databases and recommending improvements for performance efficiency.
• Developing best practices for database design and development activities.

Your skills

• Good knowledge of one of following databases: MS SQL (preferred), MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle.
• Good knowledge of SQL language (familiarity of TSQL will be a plus), stored procedures, triggers etc.
• Good knowledge of Windows systems and ability to fix simple software problems.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Patience, attention to detail and analytical thinking.
• Ability to learn and self-improve.
• Good knowledge of English.

Your optional skills

These skills are nice to haves, but they are not a requirement:

• IT or technical degree.
• Knowledge of database design and optimization.
• Programming experience.
• Knowledge of CLR procedures.
